In gesprek over oplossingen voor meer kansengelijkheid in het onderwijs

De veelgeprezen documentaireserie Klassen van omroep HUMAN geeft een gezicht aan de groeiende kansenongelijkheid in het onderwijs in Nederland. De serie, gemaakt door Sarah Sylbing en Ester Gould, maakt duidelijk dat het niet alleen anders kan, maar ook anders moet.

Klassen gaat het land in om met beleidsmakers en onderwijsprofessionals te werken aan het verbeteren van de onderwijskansen van elk kind. Fragmenten uit de serie dienen als startpunt voor gesprek. Wat is de lokale problematiek? Wat werkt er al goed en wat kan beter?… Read the rest

HSN-34 kon niet plaatsvinden wegens de COVID-problematiek. Daarom organiseren we dit jaar een digitale conferentie.

Een succesvolle HSN-33 in Zwolle is achter de rug. HSN-34 kon niet plaatsvinden wegens de COVID-problematiek. Om een meer dan dertig jaar lange traditie niet te onderbreken, organiseren we deze digitale conferentie want ook in coronatijden blijft het onderwijs Nederlands in de kern van elk onderwijscurriculum.

En dat is meer dan terecht! Is het niet via taal dat mensen betekenissen en dus kennis – een niet onbelangrijk goed in onze kennismaatschappij – construeren? Binnen de HSN Onderwijs Conferentie Nederlands trachten de deelnemers in de vele bijdragen antwoorden te zoeken op de vaak complexe en moeilijke oefening die het onderwijs Nederlands met zich meebrengt, vaak in een multilinguale context.

(Nederlands/English) Ik gaf een Keynote op de The 6th International Conference in Moskou. Reading and Literacy in Education and Culture: Letters in Digits van de The Reading Association of Russia op 19-11-2020. De titel is: Digital Literacy. Rethinking literacy and learning. A big challenge for education and culture.

Digital literacy asks for a change of the definition of literacy, an update of the necessary language skills and a new language curriculum to make education relevant and up to date.

One of the major tasks of a language teacher is to increase pupils’ literacy: to be able to read and write well, and to deal with information critically and in a well-considered way. Nowadays, all information is on the internet and communication is mainly online. Acquiring, processing and providing information online is different and more complex than when we mainly used offline, paper, sources. The Digital Literacy Lab for Educators announces their next project, a 5-week free online course on digital literacies, in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning and Dilectae. You can enrol here.

Digitale geletterdheid is een uitdaging om de definitie van taalvaardigheid en het curriculum van Nederlands eens flink op de schop te nemen en het onderwijs daarin weer relevant en up-to-date te maken.

Een belangrijke taak van een leraar Nederlands is het vergroten van de geletterdheid van leerlingen: goed kunnen lezen en schrijven, kritisch en weloverwogen met informatie kunnen omgaan. Tegenwoordig staat alle informatie op internet en de communicatie gebeurt vooral online. Het verwerven, verwerken en verstrekken van onlineinformatie is anders en complexer dan toen we vooral offline, papieren, bronnen gebruikten. Op de site neerlandistiek.nl is een discussie gaande over het verbeteren van het examen Nederlands. Ik heb ook meegepraat met mijn stuk ‘Digitale geletterdheid moet in het examen Nederlands‘ dat op 18/07/20 is verschenen op neerlandistiek.nl. Het stuk is ook als pdf te downloaden.  
Mijn standpunt is dat digitale geletterdheid geïntegreerd moet worden in het curriculum en in het examen Nederlands moet worden opgenomen. Ben benieuwd naar feedback en discussie. Discussieer mee via reactiemogelijkheid beneden. Verder zal ik de discussie die zich via de sociale media voltrekt ook aan het eind van dit stuk proberen bij te houden.… Read the rest

De werkgroep Onderzoek Didactiek Nederlands van Levende Talen Nederlands is bezig met het opzetten van een digitaal Handboek Vakdidactiek Nederlands. De redactie van het handboek heeft mij gevraagd of ik het onderdeel Digitale Geletterdheid wil schrijven. Ik vind het een eervol verzoek en heb toegezegd dit te gaan doen.
Het doel van dit handboek is een groeiend overzicht van actuele vakinhoudelijke en didactische concepten te creëren, om leraren in opleiding van benodigde bagage voor het ontwikkelen van didactiek te voorzien. Het handboek is een publicatie in wording met een redactie en peer-reviewsysteem.
Natuurlijk moet de inhoud zo goed mogelijk aansluiten op de kennis en de behoeften van de studenten.… Read the rest
